The CAI Greater Houston Board of Directors has also charged the committee with a meaningful new mission:
To create and lead an annual volunteer initiative centered around one of Tally’s many passions.
Through this effort, we honor Tally’s legacy and continue the important work she believed in so deeply — building stronger, more connected communities.
Three years ago, CAI Greater Houston established the Legacy Award to recognize individuals who have dedicated at least two decades to extraordinary service in the community association profession. The award honors those who demonstrate lasting influence as educators, leaders, and advocates within the field.
This year, the Legacy Award was posthumously presented to Ms. Tally Jenkins, a true pioneer in our community whose passion and professionalism shaped the industry and touched countless lives.
Tally founded her own management company — The Clarke Dominik Group, named lovingly after her granddaughter — and quickly earned a reputation for doing things the right way. Her boutique-style firm served communities across North Houston, Galveston, and even as far east as Jasper, Texas.
Her commitment to excellence led her to achieve the CMCA, AMS, and PCAM designations, and she remained an active member of CAI since 2006. Most recently, she joined us at our educational event in Cypress on March 20th.
Tragically, Tally passed away on March 29th — but not before demonstrating one final act of service. Just hours before her passing, she personally delivered t-shirts to her committee’s vice chair in preparation for a city-wide cleanup event scheduled that same day.
Tally's unwavering dedication, generous spirit, and love for the community association profession will never be forgotten.
